Module 1: Introduction to PLCs (2 Hours)

What is a PLC?

History and evolution of PLCs

Comparison with microcontrollers and relays

Applications in industries

Major PLC brands (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta, etc.)

Module 2: PLC Hardware (2 Hours)

PLC architecture: CPU, I/O modules, memory

Types of I/O: Digital vs Analog

Power supply and wiring basics

Sensors and actuators used with PLCs

Module 3: PLC Programming Basics (4 Hours)

Introduction to Ladder Logic

Basic Logic Gates (AND, OR, NOT) in ladder

Addressing system (Inputs, Outputs, Memory)

Downloading/uploading a program

Simulation software overview

Module 4: Basic Instructions (6 Hours)

Contact and coil types: NO, NC

Set/Reset, Latch/Unlatch

Timers: ON delay, OFF delay

Counters: Up, Down

Simple logic examples

Module 5: Intermediate Programming Concepts (6 Hours)

Comparators (>, <, =, etc.)

Arithmetic operations (ADD, SUB, MUL, DIV)

Move and data transfer instructions

Basic troubleshooting methods

Memory bits, flags, internal relays

Module 6: Hands-On Practical Sessions (6 Hours)

Wiring of input/output devices (sensors, switches, indicators)

Creating and running sample programs in simulation software

Uploading programs to actual PLC hardware (if available)

Debugging exercises

Building small projects (e.g., automatic water level controller, traffic light system)

Module 7: Introduction to HMI & SCADA (Basic) (2 Hours)

Simple HMI interface with PLC

Data logging and monitoring basics

Real-world examples

Module 8: Assessment & Project Presentation (2 Hours)

Mini-project using ladder logic

Oral test or quiz on concepts
